This summer I decided to customize my reading list, I wanted to get as educated as I could with fashion in such a short amount of time.
Two years ago I received a book called Lessons Of A Lipstick Queen by Poppy King, I read it the week I was in New York and when I got home I put it on my shelf not thinking anything of it. About a month ago I picked it back up as I was experimenting with lipstick shades. Poppy’s lesson finally sunk in. She narrates to us the story of how she founded her Lipstick Line, (which is BEAUTIFUL!) with some advice about money, life, and decisions. As I reread it, I can finally understand her journey through the fashion world, I find myself in the same position but younger. It’s a great book to go back to every now and then to remind yourself that in the end it can happen for you, with the right amount of effort and passion.
Its only a matter of time that you walk into a bookstore and come across a treasure, The Black Dress by Valerie Steele gives an amazing breakdown of the classic LBD, or better known, The Little Black Dress. It was made iconic when it starred in Breakfast At Tiffany’s. But the Black Dress went back way further. It is such a classic, till this day it’s constantly reinvented. Not to mention, it’s the one thing in your closet that never goes out of style, and will always look good on you. This book is amazing to have in your design box for ideas, and to have in the back of your mind the real story of The Little Black Dress.

Cool post I am going to have to check out that book!
